-FAQ-

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions.

Q: Who are you? Are you Athey/Ayame?

A: No! I am not Athey/Ayame. She is the owner and mangager of Bakaneko. My name is LOZ64/Allison and I only manage the MOC. That means I didn't create the tutorials or the Impromanga (he is fear_no_evil) nor do I run the main website. Athey did create the MOC, however.

Q: Can I see the old MOC?

A: Yes, you actually can!! Go to archive.org, enter Bakaneko's address into the Wayback Machine, then click on "Take me Back". Click on the dates to see how the site was when it was younger. That's where you will find MOCs of the past. It's pretty cool!

Q: What exactly am I supposed to do for this contest?

A: The MOC is a contest for creating an original character based on the information I provide. For example, if the assignment of the month is to draw a samurai with green hair, you have to draw a samurai with green hair, but you can include anything else you want in your picture. You can give him red eyes and a clown suit if the guidelines don't specify the type of eyes and clothing he has! That's why I made the description so vague (inspecific)-- so that you could take what isn't there and come up with a cool and creative design.

Q: May I send in my own original character?

A: Well, you can, but he or she must follow the guidelines for the month! Your entry will not be acceptable if the character does not follow any of the guidelines (for example, a character that is an alien from Mars won't be accepted if the assignment is to draw a samurai with green hair!).

Q: Does my picture have to be drawn in an anime/manga style?

A: No, your drawing can be in any style you want. Use the style, methods and media you are most comfortable with.

Q: Do I have to send in a story?

A: No, you don't have to send in a story. The only thing that is required is the picture of the character.

Q: What kind of story do you want me to write?

A: You can write a short story, poem, a biography of the character, ect. You can write whatever you want about the character as long as it does not include sexual material or anything else inappropriate. You can also draw a mini-manga/comic.

Q: Should my entry be a colored pic? CG? Sketch?

A: Whatever you want. Use any type of artistic media that you want. It could even be a photo of a crop circle outline you made of the character, or a comic.

Q: What size should my image be?

A: I would prefer that your image be no larger than 490 pixels across. If you send me an image larger than that, you can expect that I will resize the image to fit the specification. One more thing- it really annoys me when I recieve a HUGE image fresh from your scanner, so please be decent and resize them down to reasonable dimensions if you can!!

Q: What kind of art will help me win?

A: You have three categories to aim for, so if you think you aren't a good artist, you can still win the creative vote by coming up with an interesting entry. Or if writing is your strong area, aim for the Story vote. Don't worry about winning the MOC. The main purpose of this contest is to have fun creating characters! ^_^

Q: Help! I don't know how to send in my art!

A: There are two ways to send in your artwork. You can send your entry by email if you haven't uploaded the art (there is no Internet address you can type that would take you to the picture) or you can use the form on the submission page if you have uploaded it (and if it works- if it doesn't work for you, it doesn't work for anyone else). If you are looking for an image host to host your pic on the Web, you can use Boomspeed.Com.

Q: Can I collaborate with someone on my art?

A: Yes you may, as long as you mention the names of all persons involved in the making of the image.

Q: Tell me about the voting process.

A: It's very simple. When the submission deadline rolls around, the contest is closed and the voting period begins. Each submission can be voted for it's creativity, it's overall appeal and how well the story is written (if the artist sent one in). Everybody submits their votes once every month. You (everybody including the artists themselves) can only vote for up to three entries in each category. You can vote for yourself, and you can vote for less than three people in each category. If I see that you voted for more than 9 submissions total, or that you voted more than once, your votes will not count! Also, if I see that more than 3 people in a row vote for exactly the same entries, I will not count the extra votes. Don't throw your vote away! During the weekend of the end of the voting period, I tally the votes and announce the winner when I am finished with it. The winners of the categories get the free redirection email (yourname@bakaneko.com) and a special image that says they won that category.

Q: My question wasn't answered here/The answers were unclear. Whom should I ask for help?

A: Contact me (LOZ64) at this email: loz64@bakaneko.com or use this quick email form. Don't email Athey; she is busy and unable to run the MOC anymore.
