Mareo visited her less frequently and eventually not at all. Life for the Dream Walker was empty without his old companion. One night, when Madaline was 17, Mareo came to visit again. To him, her dreams were as dry as toast, but beautiful. Madaline worried about her sanity with Mareo hanging around. She tried to will him away, but his love for her innocence could not be taken so lightly. Night after night, Madaline tried to drive Mareo away with nightmares and hideous imaginings. Nothing could sway the elf. Finally, one night, in desperation Madaline threatened to commit suicide unless Mareo would cease to visit ever again. Torn to pieces, the Dream Walker made a bargain with the dark gothic girl. He would remain with her as a prisoner of her mind, silently present at all times. Madaline warily agreed to this and sealed Mareo's terrible fate. Now, the elven Dream Walker remains in her twisted fantasies as a slave and prisoner. To you it may seem a fate worse than death, but Mareo's love prevents any torture from destroying him. About 40 years later, Madalines memories began to fade one by one. Her lifelong companion was forgotten. But still he remained, silently present at all times, secretly waiting for her to remember him. It was another 25 years until the memory was almost completely gone. Only Mareo remained, bound to her dreams and fantasies as a willing prisoner. When Madaline was 82, beauty long corrupted by years of wear, she was without companion. Forgotten by all family and friends. Mind and body slowly decaying with age. The whispy inkling of memory left was Mareo, her childhood companion. Mareo, untouchable by age, was still there exactly how she remembered. "For so many years, you have be my prisoner of your own free will. Please, let me grant you your freedom before you are lost forever. I have granddaughters in need of your companionship. Go, now. You no longer belong to me". Mareo was unbound but remained. "No, love never can perish. I will die with you. For you have no one else. I have always been with you. I can not leave you so easily, as if you were yesterdays news". Thus, Madaline died peacefully. No family or friends were present, just Mareo. At her parting, he commended his spirit to be with her in eternity. Love is not just for a day. Comments: The Picture depicts Mareo and Madaline when she is 17. Mareo is being bound to her.
