I sighed and brushed myself off. “That was then. This is now. Deal with the present, Cho.” I looked around at the desolate land that lay before me. At one time it had been beautiful forest, but that was long ago…
A bitter wind entangled itself in my hair swirling in and out of the long wisps. I looked up to the distant star glimmering in the distance. It was so far away yet its brilliance could still be found in the outer part of our solar system.
Thinking of the Sun made me remember Toshi…and the unrequited love I had felt for him… I sighed again. ‘He had wanted to come with, but the Professor wouldn’t let him…and now there is no way I’m ever going to see him again…’ there was no way for me to communicate with anyone in the past…they were, after all, living in a completely different era than I was. 'but then again, he's never listened to the professor before. he was always bending the rules and testing Professor's limits...' I mentally kicked myself for letting my hopes go up.
“This is the beginning of a new life for me.” I stated trying to assure myself that I had made the right decision, “a second chance at life…”
