Character's Story:
The first time I knew about my power came during my lunch break. I was
headed over to McDonalds, to see if they had anything edible for less than
two-hundred Yen, when I was lifted off of my feet by the shirt, and turned
to look in the face of some ex-American-Football player who stood at least
twice my size and displayed a generous helping of muscle-groups not found in
any anatomy book. So I did what any sensible theatre employee with a
powerfull mind and a bit of belly hanging out would do.
I screamed for help.
This scream had three very curious and potentially usefull effects. The
instant I had opened my mouth, I sensed, in an almost tactile way, a very
detailed three-dimensional map of my surroundings. And only moments later,
I was dropped roughly to the sidewalk as my muscle-bound thug went flying
backwards into a nearby wall. And an instant after that, a small crowd of
people burst into applause.
Tokyo is not known for empty streets.
"Well done." I heard behind me, in English with a pronounced American
accent.
"Do you speak Japanese too?" I asked in English.
"No, I have translators. But I know that you speak a few languages, and I
took a gamble that english was among them."
"I also speak a fluent Hurl-Thugs-Against-Walls." I said, as I turned to
locate my new aqauaintance. Nobody. Well, nobody who could be reasonably
expected to speak no Japanese. As I have said, Tokyo isn't terribly
deserted.
"Tsk... look what you did to poor Bruno. He just wanted to ask you a few
questions."
"Shoot." Bad choice of words. Oh well.
"Where is the mirror?"
"You will probably find one in one of the restrooms around here."
"You know what I mean, Bat!"
"Actually, I honestly have no clue. And I know I have pointed ears, but
isn't Bat a little far fetched?"
"Could any human manipulate sound-waves like that? Never mind! I will find
out later, and much less pleasantly."
And I thought Japan was such a safe place to live!
Comments: Kori Church is the adopted son of English missionaries in Japan. He is
actually (without knowing it) a magically transformed member of a race of
sentient bats sworn to protect artifact of power # 326 (The mystical Mirror
of Order. Oooh.) Fortunately for mankind the mirror is hidden in the
depths of space. Unfortunately for Kori, many evil-types think he can lead
them to it.
Occasionally Kor fights evil as the Incredible Silverbat.
