Strange as it was the figure came more and more into focus as it walked toward her. Soon a tall young man was in full view. He wore clothes from an era she was unfamiliar with yet they were simple in their design. His hair was longish and his eyes twinkled like stars. She reached out to touch him, curious to see whether or not he was real but he fled. Startled Salia woke, excited and confused about what she saw last night. She talked her friends ears off about it on end and actually looked forward to falling asleep that night. As soon as she did the handsome stranger appeared again. He still wore the same wardrobe as before and this time he wore a dazzling smile. He walked closer to her this time and stopped to stare at her, examining her in the same curious manner she was him. He stood more relaxed this time and then a strand of hair fell in his sparkling eyes. He pushed it out of the way, pulling it behind his ear. That is strange, Salia thought. His ears were slightly pointed! The next day couldn't seem to go by any faster Salia thought as she anxiously awaited the meeting of her newfound dream companion. That night he spoke to her. "Greetings. My name is Mareo." "I'm Salia," she replied nervously. A beautiful forest began to materialize around her and Mareo. "This is a beautiful place you hold here," Mareo said. "I've seen many in my years but this is by far the most beautiful yet." He stooped over to pluck a small white flower and sniffed it. He then handed it to Salia. "How old may you be my dear?" "Sixteen." "A wonderful number. In my people's years I am 114. But to you I'll always appear nineteen." He stuck the flower in her hair. "No matter what people may think, whether you dream or not, it sometimes just takes a while for one as beautiful as this to bloom, just like these flowers." Just then the ground sprouted with millions of dazzling white flowers, butterflies bursted forth form each one and birds sang from the tree tops. Salia gazed in awe at them all and then turned around to her friend but he had vanished. When Salia woke she remembered her dream and realized that she wasn't strange at all. She just needed the right inspiration to paint her nights with a dream world to play within as she slept. Comments: -- |
