Forever yours, Comments: The background is made of a photo, I took it for the occation, it's an odd-looking birch-tree right outside my house. The photographic pic was run through a dozen of PSP filters etc to get a painted,blurred, dream-like appearence. I like mixing photographic elements with artwork, it can create quite nice effects and interesting contradictions. Besides it's way faster than drawing and I havn't got the time (unfortunately) to make a nifty background-painting. I'm very satisfied with the final Mareo character, it's pretty close to my initial thoughts. I wanted a kind of genius of the woods, somewhat transparent and with a magic glow. It should also match the story; the strange mood of a dream and with a romatic touch. The little attatched paper in the upper right corner is meant to connect the pic to the story and create a feeling of a scattered piece of a personal letter (the last words of the characters story, that is). The body as well as the lineart are all white from the start. Transparency added and every shadow made by adjusting brightness of selections in PSP (I love that PSP thing - there's magic, I tell you!). I think the final FXs with the small dots and stars really made the difference. Enjoy! |
