Title: Gate Pass

Story:
"I can't believe you dragged me in here, Donnie."

Maxine crossed her arms and made a face, expressing her utmost repulsion at their venue. Dirt was the central force in here.

"I'll just be a minute, we'll be on time." Donnie simply ignored his cousin's disgust. He darted to several cases and glanced about the shelves of unique items.

Maxine followed him, dodging unidentified filthy objects, which she did not fail to call "UFO's". "What are you looking for, anyway?", she asked, carefully holding up a tiny outdated figurine.

"Something." Donnie muttered without turning to her. Maxine rolled her eyes. Mornings like this were always a real drag. It took a few moments until she spotted a green colored box, with gold, incomprehensible lettering. She walked over, held it up and flipped it around, observing it in all corners. A soft bump noise came from inside the box.

Maxine set it back down and pushed up the four hooks that kept the box closed. She peered inside the mystical item, but instantly became disappointed at what she saw.

"Just more crap." She winced and brought out what appeared to be a game cartridge. It had a worn-out picture stuck to it, and no remnant of its title.

"That's a Nintendo game!" Donnie screamed. He rushed over to Maxine who plopped it without hesitation on her cousin's excited palms. "It's the old kind, these things are totally hard to find now!" Donnie was staring so hungrily at the piece he could've drooled right then and there.

"Okay, now that you have your 'something', can we please go away from here? We are so going to be late!" Maxine snapped at him.

"Fine, fine." Donnie shrugged and shook his head.

Maxine pulled her cousin to the counter, and finally, they were out of the shop.

"I hope this works." Donnie thought to himself as they began to pick up their pace.

Little did he know, someone else was whispering the same words.
